Chapter 10: Re-processing Problematic Experiences

10.3.3. Exercise: Meaning Creation

Practice in Meaning Creation work is best done in group training workshops, but the emotional arousal component of the marker makes is tricky to practice in training settings.  One strategy is to begin with marker work and practice sessions using milder, less intense, everyday “meaning crises.”  Another approach is to delay practicing Meaning Creation work until after Empty Chair work training has been carried out.  This at least ensures that the training group has been meeting for several months and that adequate levels of trust among participants and with the trainers have been established.
